Clean Eating at Thanksgiving

Clean Eating- a completely different topic than my previous posts!  I enjoy eating- not as much lately, since I just completed my first trimester of pregnancy, but usually, I enjoy eating.  Part of me doesn't feel like Thanksgiving is the time to be dieting, but in my new quest to eat cleaner (thus saving me some pounds to lose after this pregnancy), I am willing to entertain some clean eating recipes in place of the traditional method of preparation.  There are tons of clean eating recipes, but the couple I've tried and liked enough to trade for the "real thing" are the Clean Eating Pumpkin Pie (with the optional 1/4 c. added honey) and the Clean Eating Sweet Potato Casserole.  Both were delicious! Check them out and give me your favorites.

When you are doing trying some recipes, head to Beachbody today at noon to check out their Black Friday deals for a workout to complement your efforts of clean eating or some Shakeology  to further your quest for a healthy diet.  Happy Cooking!

Clean Eating Thanksgiving Dinner

Clean Eating Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. A day for family, eating too much, and either playing football or sacking out on the couch.
My family has never placed a lot of emphasis on Thanksgiving. We keep our dinner relatively low key, and often times, will simply go out to dinner. Not a lot of preparation or high stress.
My mom (a German immigrant) always says,
Leave it to Americans to put a major holiday that close to Christmas.
And I have to agree with her. You see, in Germany, “Thanksgiving” is in October when the harvest actually comes in. Of course, they don’t have Halloween, but that gives them the entire  two months to prepare for Christmas. And believe me, it can take them the full two months to prepare. So you can see why my Mom is a little disgruntled with Thanksgiving.
But now that Mini Chef is getting a little older, I’m starting to become a bit more inclined towards cooking the whole dinner with all the fixings. My German upbringing is losing it’s hold, and this all-encompassing American tradition is squeezing it’s way in.
I have tried to clean up a few dishes every year so that eventually I can do an entirely clean dinner. So here’s the collection I have so far. I’ll add a few more next year, and the year after that….

I haven’t done a full turkey yet, no. Something for next year. I do have a whole, roasted chicken. You could certainly try that recipe with a turkey…

Haha!!! Hope you enjoy it then! I’m not making it for Thanksgiving this year, but I might have to make it just to have some “leftovers” around the house!
  4. Thank you for this! The Pumpkin Pie was a big hit! :)
